The Role

Senor level Geophysicists will report to the General Manager.  Multi-disciplined teams are assembled for most assignments and you might be attached to several projects at a time, often as Project Manager; sometimes as a team member. 

• You will undertake geophysical interpretation and analysis using appropriate techniques and technologies to provide world class solutions for clients. You will also provide geophysical input to projects including resource evaluations, unitisation and redetermination assessments, and field development studies.
• You will be required to present data, interpretation and reports to clients, either individually or as part of a larger project team and advise clients on geoscience matters, often at a senior level.
• In addition, you will be expected to provide geoscience support and advice to colleagues, to mentor less experienced geoscience staff and to assist the business development team. A key part of your role will be to attend conferences and forums and serve as an ambassador for GCA.

Experience Required

Above all, we are keen to engage candidates who can demonstrate a broad range of Geophysics expertise in many of the following areas:  frontier exploration, appraisal, field development planning and mature field redevelopment.  Advanced seismic interpretation skills are essential (preferably using Landmark, Geoframe or Kingdom software) coupled with a sound understanding of seismic attribute analysis and the application of such techniques to prospect risk assessment and reservoir characterisation. 

Extensive experience of depth conversion methodologies and workflows is also important and, whilst seismic processing is not part of GCA's business stream, you should be conversant with industry standard seismic processing techniques and able to give guidance to clients and colleagues on such matters.  A strong understanding of all aspects of petroleum geosciences, including reservoir modeling, petrophysical analysis and reservoir engineering principles is necessary.

Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements

Suitable candidates will be highly motivated with excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.  You will be delivery focussed with well-honed influencing skills, and capable of building effective working relationships with others at all levels of seniority inside and outside the business.  You should enjoy working independently and as part of multi-disciplined teams.  Excellent communication skills are essential - to include writing reports and making presentations - and you must have demonstrable coaching/teaching abilities.  Strong project, budget and time management skills are pre-requisite. 

A minimum of a Masters degree in Geoscience is preferred.  Exposure to a range of international work environments is important.  Experience of delivering a premium advisory service, either within an operator or consultancy environment is an advantage.  Some short-term travel will be required.
