Geologist Advisor

Gaffney, Cline & Associates

Background

Gaffney, Cline & Associates (GCA) is an international advisory firm focused on providing integrated technical and managerial services to all sectors of the oil and gas industry. For over 50 years GCA has provided both broad-based and detailed advice resulting in solutions-orientated, commercially viable and practical results designed to meet client's specific requirements.  In addition to Reservoir Engineering, GCA advises a wide group of clients in exploration, reservoir evaluation, field development, drilling and production, pipeline, refining and LNG projects around the world.

GCA has principal offices in London, Houston, Moscow, Buenos Aires, Singapore and Sydney.

The Role

This role will report to the General Manager.  Multi-disciplined teams are assembled for most assignments and you might be attached to several projects at a time, often as Project Manager; sometimes as a team member.

You will undertake geological interpretation and analysis using appropriate state-of-the-art techniques to provide Best in Class solutions for clients.  You will also provide geological input to multi-discipline projects, from frontier exploration through to field development and production.

You will be required to present data, interpretation and reports to clients, either individually or as part of a larger project team.

In addition, you will be expected to provide geoscience support and advice to colleagues, to mentor less experienced geoscience staff and to assist the business development team.  A key part of your role will be to attend conferences and forums and serve as an ambassador for GCA.

Experience Required

We are keen to talk to development/production geologists who have broad experience, ideally obtained within an operator environment, on a range of assets from select/define through to project execution, with exposure to mature field redevelopment and reservoir surveillance.

Advanced geomodelling skills are essential (preferably using Petrel) as well as strong uncertainty assessment and quantification capabilities.  You will also have a good understanding of all aspects of petroleum geosciences, including seismic interpretation, petrophysical analysis and reservoir engineering principles.

Skills, Abilities and Other Requirements

Suitable candidates will be highly motivated with excellent analytical and problem solving abilities.  You will be delivery focussed with well-honed influencing skills, and capable of building effective working relationships with others at all levels of seniority inside and outside the business.

You should enjoy working independently and as part of multi-disciplined teams.  Excellent communication skills are essential - to include writing reports and making presentations - and you must have demonstrable coaching/teaching abilities.  Strong project, budget and time management skills are pre-requisite.

A Masters degree in Geology/Geoscience is preferred as a minimum for this role.  Exposure to a range of international work environments is important.  Experience of delivering a premium advisory service, either within an operator or consultancy environment is an advantage.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to enjoy a huge variety of projects, worldwide.  You will be working at the highest level whilst maintaining your technical competence, in a choice of outstanding locations.  A generous salary package is available, designed to recognise candidates' experience levels, including flexible benefits and relocation assistance where required.
