Regional New Ventures Team Leader

Sasol Petroleum International

The chance for an experienced geoscientist to define new ventures strategy and drive activity across the Asia Pacific region

Sasol Petroleum International (SPI) is the E&P division of Sasol, one of the top 50 global energy companies. SPI operates assets in Mozambique and Papua New Guinea and has Exploration/Production interests in South Africa, West Africa, and Australia.

SPI's main strategic focus is exploration and monetisation of gas, leveraging Sasol's downstream technology differentiators in Gas-to-Liquids and Chemicals. Its current equity production is 40,000 boepd and it is in the middle of an expansion project to increase production to 55,000 boepd by 2011. The company strategy is to achieve 150,000 boepd equity production by 2025, mainly via exploration led organic growth.

To support this expansion, SPI is looking to recruit an experienced geoscientist as Regional New Ventures Team Leader/Coordinator in Sydney.  The role will focus on Asia Pacific.

Reporting to the New Ventures Manager, you will be required to define new ventures strategy and drive activity in the region. Consequently, extensive new ventures/business development expertise coupled with in-depth regional knowledge is imperative.  You should possess advanced technical expertise combined with a track record in successful deal-finding/evaluation and must be comfortable working with virtual, multi-disciplined teams.

Ideally educated to post-graduate level in the Earth Sciences, you will have current and up to date software capability using Office and collaborative applications. Kingdom and Petrel expertise is desirable.

This is a local staff role and requires regular inter-continental travel.  The successful candidate will enjoy high levels of visibility both within SPI and the wider upstream community. With the financial and technical capabilities to capture and develop prospects quickly, SPI provides a secure employment environment and an exciting global career path.
