The chance for experienced geologists and geophysicists to adopt key exploration roles within one of the world's most innovative energy businesses at a time of exciting growth Sasol Petroleum International (SPI) is the E&P division of Sasol, one of the top 50 global energy companies. SPI has operations in Mozambique and Papua New Guinea and Exploration/Production interests in South Africa, West Africa, and Australia. SPI's main strategic focus is exploration and monetisation of gas, leveraging Sasol's downstream technology differentiators in Gas-to-Liquids and Chemicals. Its current equity production is 40,000 boepd and it is in the middle of an expansion project to increase production to 55,000 boepd by 2011. The company strategy is to achieve 150,000 boepd equity production by 2025, mainly via exploration led organic growth. To support this expansion, SPI is looking to recruit a number of Principal and Senior Geoscientists to its Technical Services function to focus on New Ventures opportunities. The key requirement of these positions is to provide high quality geoscience evaluation support to Exploration New Ventures/Business Development activities. The Principal Geoscientists will take lead roles in supporting farm-in, bid round, and corporate acquisition related projects aimed at delivering new ventures. Senior Geoscientists will provide high quality technical support in aspects of basin play screening, prioritizing and evaluating prospects, with subsequent collaboration in interdisciplinary business evaluations of opportunities. Candidates will already possess specific expertise and varied experience in areas such as: seismic interpretation (2D and 3D); geological interpretation and well log interpretation and correlation. Practical knowledge of risk and uncertainty analysis of plays and prospects is important in all of these roles and you should possess diverse technical and business acumen to work effectively with multi-disciplinary interests. Degree educated in a geological or earth science subject you will ideally also hold an MSc or PhD in Petroleum Geology or Petroleum Geophysics. Current and up to date software capability using Office and collaborative applications is essential. Kingdom and Petrel expertise is desirable. SPI operates a matrix structure and you will report to the Manager, Geoscience with a dotted reporting line to the New Ventures Manager. Based in London, you will be expected to undertake regular inter-continental travel.
