Suncor Energy merged with Petro-Canada in 2009 to form Canada's largest energy business with a resource base of over 20 billion boe and considerable financial strength.

In the UK and Norway Suncor has assets in production and development, as well as exploration acreage and the company is committed to growing the business from its offices in Aberdeen and Stavanger.

In the Central North Sea it has 30% equity in the producing Buzzard field and the nearby Golden Eagle/Hobby developments, (all non-operated). These assets are amongst the largest North Sea finds in the past 15 years. After acquiring a new license in the UK 26th Licensing Round, Suncor also has five Operated exploration licenses and sanction to drill two operated wells. In addition it is active in new ventures, seeking exploration acreage through licensing rounds and farm-in opportunities.
